Sandy Blass' watercolour landscape paintings are inspired by the beauty of Western Canada, including Cathedral Grove, Cameron Lake, and regions in the mountains, such as Lake Louise, Lake Minnewanka, and other ranges in Banff and Kananaskis parks. She especially loves to capture the changing seasons.
Abstract art is where romanticism, impressionism and expressionism meet. Over the years, I have occasionally gone into the world of abstractions with my painting. Recently I have made this style more of a regular practice. It has been, in many ways, a way to find more freedom in my work and stretch the boundaries.
I started A Painting A Day to keep creative forces flowing. I first received little 5x5" samples of watercolor papers from a company that wanted me to try theirs. I have used most of them for paintings, and in this way, these and the Morning Brush Hour™ paintings have made some of my work accessible to more people.
Morning Brush Hour™ originated with me painting watercolor art before starting my day. Admittedly it goes in spurts and it sometimes occurs at the end of the day. Nonetheless, it always comes from a desire to be connected to my spirit and G-d’s spirit. My work helps others in many of the same ways it helps me.
